CAS Space, registered in December 2018
as Beijing Zhongke Aerospace Exploration Technology
Co., Ltd., is developing solid rockets before developing
more complex liquid propellant launchers.
The company aims for a first launch of the ZK-1A solid rocket capable
of lifting 1.33 tons to SSO in 2022.
The Zhongke-1A (ZK-1A) could be China’s largest solid orbital rocket in terms
of payload capacity at time of flight.
The ZK-1A is a four-stage SLV, also named
"Lijian-1". The specified thrust for the 4 solid fuel
motors is 200, 100, 50 and 10 t. The take-off weight is 135 t.
It is probably an upgraded KZ-11 launcher with a core diameter of 2.20 m.
Depending on the length of the fairing, the launcher reaches 24.5 or 26 m in
high.
