As part of the ongoing development of Ariane 5’s main engine, Volvo Aero and its partners Snecma and EADS Astrium developed a new engine nozzle, called the Vulcain 2+ NE Demonstrator or NE-X. The innovative sandwich construction of the nozzle was successfully tested and is now ready for full development.
