After the last launch of the Unha-3
in 2012 the Sohae Space Launch Facility has been significantly changed. First,
the launch tower was extended about 14 m. It followed the construction of
a railway line, which is introduced in a tunnel, that have at the end upwards
a slot. This means that no longer carried out the transportation of rocket
stages to the launch site on the road. The rocket parts are lifted by a rail
transfer platform out the slot in the tunnel by an internal crane, and transported
directly to the launch tower or temporarily stored in a new support building.
The transfer platform has a hinged roof, so that the rocket parts can be erected
by the crane of the launch tower. |
