Soyuz-2 & -2K |
In further development the Soyuz-U and Soyuz-FG are modified to the variant Soyuz-2. The Soyuz-2 will replace the given up project Rus (Soyuz - M) in his original form. The already modified engines RD-107A/RD-108A are taken over by the Soyuz-FG. The third stage block I is improved gradually. First all the tanks to changed ratio of the propellant components become adjusted (Soyuz-2 or Soyuz-2.1a). In the second phase the engine RD-0110 is replaced by a RD-0124 (Soyuz-2K or Soyuz-2.1b). As additional fourth stage can be used the "Fregat".

The first launch of the Soyuz-2 (1a) resulted
at that 08.11.2004. It was a qualification - test of the rocket without payload.
For the launch a Yantar-Fairing was used. The first payload (MetOp) was started
by STARSEM at that 19.10.2006 successfully. As payload fairing the new model of
STARSEM was used with a diameter of 4.1 m and a length of 11.4 m.
The Russian military will accomplish the next
launch of the Soyuz-2 (1a) in December 2006 from Plesetzk. As payload fairing for
the new communications satellite "Meridian -1" will use probably an enlarged STARSEM
SF-fairing. It has a diameter of 3.72 m and a length of 10.20 (10.37 ?) m. Meridian
- 1 should replace the Molnya communication - satellites.
Payload capability (in tons) with fairing of 3,72 m diameter for LEO (200 km)
